During today's parliamentary session, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa disclosed that 43 Members of Parliament received a total of Rs. 1.22 billion in compensation for damages to their homes during the 2022 Aragalaya period. The Health and Mass Media Minister stated that some regional and district secretaries faced pressure to exaggerate the extent of the damage. He also clarified that the maximum compensation for total damage resulting from a disaster is Rs. 2.5 million.
